Korea, Home Sweet Korea

Using the internet here is pretty easy. The keyboard is set up with english and korean characters so it's like using a regular keyboard. This afternoon we are heading over to my grandfathers house and he is letting us borrow a power adapter and then I'll be able to use my laptop and upload pictures and ect.

Everyone is heated up right now. Apparantly my aunt's kids went to thier dad's house (divorced parents) and his aunt hit one of the kids. They are really good kids so I can't see them doing anything to warrant a beating.

My mom and her sister and her sister in law are here yelling and screaming into the phone. Someone is going to get a beatdown Korean style. I am not a nice person to be around when I get angry but with my mom you better move out of the way or deal with her fury.

Other than that, everything's been great. I actually understand a lot of Korean. I've been picking up on it and I can infer from body language and voice influx. My family is trying really hard to accommodate me but they don't need to. I'm in Korea so I'm going to be Korean. I don't need American things. We stopped at a rest stop on the way home from the airport and they asked me if I wanted a hamburger. I said NO WAY and ordered some Korean Noodles instead.
At my cousins house they let me sleep on the bed and my mom and everyone else slept on the floor which is Korean custom. I'm at my uncles house now and they don't have beds so last night I slept on the floor. It actually wasn't that bad. They give you a thin matteress that is really cushy. I slept wonderfully.

The only problem I have is with thier chopsticks. I'm used to rounded chopsticks and they have thin flat ones so I just need to get used to that. They are serving me a lot of food that my mom served to me growing up so even though I am in a different country, I still feel at home. It's so weird but comforting.

My family is JUST like me and my mom. It's so strange! You'd think we'd be different since we are raised in different countries in different cultures but we get along great! We have the same sense of humor. I absolutely LOVE my cousin here, Sue Hon. She's like a mix of me and my mom.

I'm having a lot of fun here and so far I have yet to spend any money. I am itching to. We're supposed to go downstairs to the market soon. And then we are going to my grandfathers house for dinner. Today is finally sunny so I'll take a ton of pictures!

Oh! By the way, Dan bought a house!!! We close on July 2! Yay!!! I'm so excited. I looked at the house before we left for florida and I fell in love with it. I gave Dan permission to buy it if he liked it. He signed the papers while I was still in the air! Hahaha! I guess he really liked it! It's really nice. I feel really happy. This is the best birthday ever.

I have yet to come across any postcards but when I do, I'll start mailing some. I love you guys and miss you a lot!!

(Is it weird that my inner dialogue is turning Korean? hahahahah)
