Last night I had some ladies over for some snacks and conversation and we had a fun time. They didn't realize just how far away I really do live. Hahah. But it's all good. I don't mind driving to their places most of the time but it was nice to host for a change.
This morning I had a doctor's appointment at the Naval hospital which is located in the middle of North Charleston in the middle of a bad neighborhood. It's a hefty drive but it's where I have to go so I deal with it.
Upon leaving, the bright sunshine from the morning now turned into a hopeless gray day. We quickly drove home to get away from the sadness of a dilapidated and forgotten neglected area. Within 30 minutes we finally arrived home in Summerville. I get out of the car, more tired from the drive than my appointment itself and squint as I enter the house. Then I realize it is sunny here and beautiful.
That got me feeling and thinking about the many different areas that encompass the Charleston area; downtown, West Ashley, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, Hanahan, Goose Creek, Ladson, Summerville and etc..
Even though Summerville is a bit of a drive and more secluded that the rest of the area, it is my peace of quiet. It's where I go to at the end of a long tiring day. It's my getaway. It's my bit of sunshine among a city of cloudiness.
